Kenzo named Uganda’s tourism ambassador

Singer Edirisa Musuuza alias Eddy Kenzo has been officially named as Uganda’s tourism ambassador.

The singer was unveiled by the minister of state for Tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda during a news conference on Tuesday.

Kenzo will join hands with the tourism sector and Uganda at large to revive the marketing of the country’s tourist attractions and the destination on an international scene.

According to Kiwanda,Uganda is not a one man’s responsibility noting that there have been other personalities that have taken on showcasing the beauty of the Pearl on their own personal made fame which are a resource to utilise in marketing Uganda.

“Eddy Kenzo’s Music has been that Instrumental voice that’s restored hope, built confidence and showcased our strength to move forth(Sitya loss, Stamina, Tweyagale etc),”Kiwanda said

“He can help in promoting our tourism through the project ‘#DestinationUganda,” Kiwanda added.

Kenzo is expected to use his brand to market and promote popular tourist destinations in Uganda.

In his address, Kenzo said that his dream of promoting Uganda has finally come true.

“I will use my brand to promote Uganda with all my love and devotion.I would like to thank the Ministry of Tourism most notably Hon minister Kiwanda, the tourism partners like Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority among others for entrusting me with this role,”he said.

“While I will be required to also show case our beauty to the outside world, I strongly believe it all begins with us. I therefore appeal to you all my friends, fans and all Ugandans to be a part of the #TulambuleMyUganda campaign to see what beauty we behold as a nation,”he added.

In 2018, Kenzo was made a tourism ambassador of Uganda Wildlife Authority after winning the award of Favourite African Star at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

In 2017, he was also named a tourism ambassador for Kenya by Kenya Tourism Board and his role was to promote the culture, beauty, natural resource, infrastructure and tourism in general, of Kenya, under the campaign “Take a break”.

Eddy Kenzo handed over all his international awards to the national museum so that the young generation can be inspired by his achievements
